Blog Update

18 12 2009

Hi everyone,

Have added a number of new links within each page that link to online materials to support development in a range of areas. As you may know, I am running two INSET days on the 16th and 17th of February entitled – ‘Assessment – AifL / CfE’.

If you wish to attend either day please apply through the CPD website: 16th Feb – CODE: 1997 / 17th Feb – CODE: 1998. Due to demand, I have had to limit places to two attendees per school. You will find details of the aims and purposes of the days within the course descriptor.

I will look forward to seeing some of you on these days.

I think you will find the link below helpful in relation to these days:

Clink on the link below to access the Journey to Excellence Professional Development Pack entitled: Assessment as Part of Learning. NOTE: Not all links to videos are still active – most are so don’t give up!

After completing this programme of study you will be able to:

 • change how you establish learning outcomes for your pupils and assess their learning;

 • understand better the characteristics of excellent schools in establishing learning outcomes and targets and assessing learning outcomes;

 • have seen and reflected on some high quality work being done in schools across all sectors in the context of Curriculum for Excellence;

 • have discussed some current thinking and research on the purposes and uses of assessment; and

 • have carried out and reported on a piece of personal classroom research on the impact of some forms of assessment on learning.
